Durian Pizza

Durian season already peaked and now it is ending, my grandfather's durian yield dwindling already. But we have been enjoying it so much... even taking it for granted! Anytime we want to eat durian we just go to the freezer and take out a few seeds to let thaw or microwave. Boxes upon boxes have been lovingly given to us.

Since we had ample durian, we get to try recipes like this durian pizza! My mom first saw this in a viral video where a shop in Penang was serving durian pizza. It looked so easy to make! So we got the recipe for durian pizza and made it! Actually it is just a pizza base and 2 ingredients - durian and mozzarella cheese!

The durian pulp is slathered thickly on the pizza base and after that you sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top! Then bake it in the oven at 220℃ for 10-15 minutes and done! Oozey cheesy durian pizza!

It was as round a pizza as we could get, not perfect. And the cheese looked a little sparse to me, but my mom said it is enough. When done, the cheese looked golden brown, but when we cut it and lifted out a slice, it didn't appear stretchy! Not as much as in the video anyway! 😂I guess we could have done with more cheese. Still really good though.

It was yummy straight out of the oven. We made 2 pizzas. The first one was finished quickly but the other one had some leftovers. Once cool, it tasted different. It really is best straight out of the oven!

It is fattening as hell! One reason we don't make more durian desserts! Sweet durian and dough and tons of cheese.... of course it tastes good! But probably set me back in my diet! But I guess on regular days, I would compensate with diet and exercise, and we don't eat this every day so it's ok.
