The flight home from Vancouver was exhausting and the jet lag lasted much longer than expected. I
came to on Friday when I went out with Liam and had an awesome time eating at different places over the weekend.
It was really nice hanging out with Liam, my new crush. We went out to a car boot sale in Dpulze shopping centre in Cyberjaya. Thanks Liam for taking us there. I noticed the car boot sale had more of a business vibe to it, with people selling either things from bundles, second hand markets and also brand new items. It may not be suitable for casual peddlers like me only selling their own belongings. Granted it was raining by the time we got there and most of the sellers had packed up and gone home. I should go again on a sunny day in order to gauge properly. Anyway, it was fun.
On Friday, we ate ayam penyet which is a really nice fried chicken with rice and raw veggies. I didn't eat the raw cabbage though. The chicken was awesome and there was a slice of tempeh, and sambal. I love Malaysian food and will miss this if I am ever going to move anywhere new. Food from home is always the best. Love Malaysian flavours.
On Sunday we had tosai! Omg when I told Liam I have never eaten tosai with filling except in Vancouver he basically made fun of me and promised to bring me to try it. I guess I am not hard core enough to have tried it in Malaysia. The tosai had a potato filling and was so yummy. I prefer dosa in Vancouver as it is crunchy but I guess I should have asked for crunchy tosai. Never mind... next time Liam will order it as I don't know how. It came with 3 nice dips. Liam had a roti Planta which is a roti but with Planta (margerine) and sugar.
Below, I pierced the tosai to reveal the potato filling. You can see it is kinda mushy and flavoured with spices. So yummy. I hope I am able to go more times to eat tosai with Liam.
After the tosai breakfast, we shopped for some random things and window shopped to walk off the meal. Then we had lunch at a place where they have bittergourd noodles. Haha, really a pig out day! No holding back lol. Weekends are without restriction, according to Liam.
The noodles can't be seen but they were a kind of yellow flat noodle. There was ample thinly sliced bittergourd and some pork balls and tofu. So yummy! We had a side of sui kow, which are a type of dumplings. After that we finished strong with cendol.
I think I may have put on weight this weekend. But no regrets. Will work on eating clean during the week ahead. I think after Vancouver I put on 3 kgs and now I have to manage myself and get back to routine. Chubby is ok, but I will try to get down to a healthy weight for myself.
I have decided to read about meal prep and try to pre-pack my allowable snacks. Will update how that goes. A bit of an investment but it's better than I reach for random things when I am hungry. Hope I can meet my weight loss goals asap!Labels: eating out, meals
