Cheese Tea

Yesterday I met up with Stewart, a longtime friend. Sometimes I go out with him and our usual meet-up place is Leisure Mall as it is convenient and meets our requirement - a place to eat or drink and catch up. We talk about what we are doing and bounce ideas off each other.

Anyway, yesterday when we went out I suggested this new drink place that just opened about a week or so ago at Leisure Mall. It is located at level 1 outside Ogawa and is called Chizu. I am not sure if it is called Chizu-Honzu. Apparently the drinks section is called Chizu and the section that sells croissants is called Honzu... Hmm...

Chizu and Honzu

I guess you would eat them like below. Have a croissant with a cheese drink I suppose. Maybe they complement each other. I should try that. But yesterday I just had the drink only.

Cheese drink and croissant

I didn't know what to expect. Cheese in a drink? But it was surprisingly good! I ordered the Premium Red Tea and Stewart ordered the chocolate with cheese. My tea was sweetened and the cheese on top was frothy like a cappuccino or whipped cream. It was salty and tasted kinda creamy but not offensive.

Stewart's chocolate drink is on the left. He said it was not something he was used to and didn't like it. He said he can't get used to it and abandoned the drink halfway. I however managed to finish my drink. The tea and cheese complemented each other. Next time I will have the Jasmine tea. Yum!

Here is a close-up of the tea drink. It has powdered matcha dusted on top. The cheese layer is at least an inch thick and you drink it from the cup and not from a straw so you can slurp the froth. Be sure to have napkins to wipe off your moustache after that. 😂

The place was kinda crowded but we managed to get a seat as most people take-away their drink. It was kinda noisy but we managed to hear each other talk. The next time I go, I want the Jasmine tea and to try one of their croissants. See below for their croissant selection. So many types. Looks intriguing! I will have to sample one of them next time.

Overall, I think Chizu is nice as I can get used to the taste and enjoy it. Salty and sweet is a complement actually. But some people might not like it. Tea does go well with the cheese, surprisingly. One thing though is that like most novelty beverages, they are expensive. RM10 for mine if I'm not mistaken. I would go again, but I wouldn't regular there as I don't have the financial backing to do so.

New year is tomorrow... back to dieting! Hope I can lose weight in January to February. Intermittent fasting! Exercise! Whole foods!
