Saw some fall apple recipes and I still didn't know what to make for Halloween. Fall seems a good time for apples and cinnamon. I am short of pumpkin this last minute, so couldn't try anything pumpkin related. Nevertheless, as I always do, I used what I had on hand. Need to make a trip to the grocery store, long overdue.
Anyway, this apple crumble was a simple recipe that I made. It uses sliced apples. I didn't wanna make it based on a whole apple as I wanted it to cook fast. My tummy was rumbling. I used lots of butter and sugar. And spiced it up with lime juice and cinnamon. Kind of an original recipe I made up. But according to my mom it passed her standard. And that is saying a lot... she doesn't often say things like that. The trick is to use plenty of butter and sugar. Anything is better with butter and sugar added to it. 😁😂
I placed the sliced apples in a small dish like below. I didn't bother slicing them thinly. Just let it be chunky.
I added oats, then melted butter. Then sugar and cinnamon. I realized I should have mixed the sugar with the cinnamon so that I would not have such dark spots where the cinnamon landed. Lastly, I squeezed in some lime juice.
I baked it in a small oven as I wanted to save electricity. It is kinda slower than a larger oven, so I recommend baking time to be approximately 20 minutes in a medium sized oven.
