Stir Fried Tong Ho Greens

I feel I ought to share more basic recipes that are so popular and liked in my family. Recipes that anyone can easily do if they want some nutritious, simple food. Just come home from work and see what you have in the fridge and go for it. Anyone can do it and my mom cooks like this every day. It uses fresh ingredients, is nutritious and is quick. A no brainer. Maybe I will share more easy recipes like this that my mom has been cooking all this while.

Anyway, here is a nice green veggie that we bought at NSK supermarket. The green veg is called "Tong Ho" and in English it is called Edible Chrysanthemum Greens. (I am not completely sure, though, so I will use the word "Tong Ho" instead). They are delicious green veggies similar in shape to rocket and tastes kind of herby and refreshing. It tastes good just stir fried, and is really fragrant.

Here they are after washing and thrown in the pan. The recipe is below. Basically you can stir fry any leafy green veg with this recipe!

Ingredients
Directions
  1. Wash veggies and cut off any thick stems and set aside separately. Discard woody or fibrous stems, or peel the woody edges off the woody stems.
  2. Put 2 tbsp of oil in a wok and fry chopped garlic until fragrant.
  3. Throw in the thick stems first and fry for 1 minute.
  4. Next, throw in leaves. Add a few tbsp of water. Stir fry until leaves are cooked, maybe approximately 1 minute or less, depending on the veg. With thicker leaves like cabbage, you may need to simmer with the lid on.
  5. Add the dollop of oyster sauce and mix well into the veggies.
  6. Turn off the stove, dish out and serve.
