Vegan Birthday Lunch

Today is 2 days before my actual birthday and Fai took me out to eat lunch to celebrate my birthday. We went to Taman Midah to have a look and found a vegan health food store that both sells organic food as well as has a restaurant. It was kind of Chinese Buddhist looking.

I had herbal mee suah mushroom soup and a pot of peppermint tea. It had ginger and mushrooms in it and some wolfberries. As well as some sliced carrots and bok choy. The taste was really fresh and simple. It was alright and at least it is vegan. Fai had a plain mushroom soup and some fried mock drumsticks. I tried one of the drumsticks and they were made of foo chuk.

I chatted with Fai about what it is like being vegan and talked about how meat and eggs are cruel to animals. Eggs are ok, because chickens lay eggs even if there is no chick in the egg. But the method of cultivating the chickens is bad. Small cages, live in their own poo etc.

Anyway, the shop name is below. They serve simple food and the price was reasonable. Mine was around RM12 for the noodles and RM3+ for the tea.

They sell plenty of health food and supplements. It was like a store around the edges of the restaurant with a few tables in the middle. I didn't find anything I liked so I stuck to the lunch. They had millet milk and almond milk but they were in powder form in a huge tin. I didn't wanna try it.

After the lunch, we explored the area a bit then went to a petrol station where Fai wanted to buy curry puffs. He also reloaded his touch and go card. I bought a donut, apple strudel and 2 cinnamon rolls. Quite cheap for the strudel and cinnamon roll. RM1.40 each. The donut was expensive though. RM2+ for a plain sugar donut. My parents and I had these for teatime.

So far my birthday is turning out positively. I will make myself a birthday cake tomorrow. So far I am feeling positive. Life keeps going on!
