Yesterday I went with my friend Diyana to a flea market at Metro Point Kajang. It was a much anticipated day and I had been getting ready for it for some time now. The place is a mall, so it's indoors in AC as opposed to the car boot sale which is outdoors.
The allocated time was 10am - 6.30pm. I arrived at the MRT station early and Diyana picked me up. I lugged a luggage bag on wheels and a hand carry duffel bag. Diyana again had a car load of things. When we got there, I helped her carry some of her things to our spot. She made 2 trips and I only made one trip and watched our things while she made the second trip.
Our spot was 2 tables on the first floor. Each vendor is allocated 2 tables which are set out for us. We just have to bring the table cloth and our things. There are also 2 chairs provided. There were a bunch of sellers mostly selling food and cosmetics. Diyana had household items like table runners, tablecloths, plates and decorative items. Mine was an assembly of novelty items. You can see for yourself below. My items are up to and including the photo frames and books.
I had accessories, decorative items, beauty items and books. I wonder how I accumulated so many items. I had given things away before, but more things will accumulate as I go shopping. I have vowed not to do any more unnecessary shopping! All the items you see above are pre-loved and I am trying to be a minimalist.
Only a handful of people actually bought things from us although some people stopped to look at our items. It was really fun to hang out there. I enjoyed interacting with the customers and other vendors. And enjoyed hanging out with Diyana.
As for my earnings, they were meagre.. around RM40+. Not many people bought things, unlike the car boot sale. Diyana said it is because this location is at a mall. People who go to the mall are usually people who just want to eat or buy specific things, and not to browse. They would go into proper shops, and not notice the flea market. But some people actually appreciated our things, so that's good.
My parents advised me against trying this sale again as I do not get many sales. However I am glad I tried it as it was fun. I will gear up for the next car boot sale in 2 weeks time! There is just something I enjoy about it. I had a great time there and it was a fun day!Labels: activity
