Yesterday I went to a car boot sale with my friend, Diyana. It was quite close to her house in Kajang but still quite a distance.
I prepped heavily for this car boot sale, decluttering most of my belongings like clothes, bags, cushion covers, makeup and accessories. I was ruthless and got rid of heaps of stuff. It's the biggest cleanse I've done. I have gotten rid of many things in the past but I don't know why I still have lots of stuff! I guess I am a magnet for clutter or something. I currently have 2 and a half large boxes of clothes I wanna give away. As for miscellaneous items, they occupy a few smaller boxes.
I packed up as much as I could carry (one suitcase on rollers and one large Ikea bag) and left the house at 5.45am in the morning! My poor dad had to drive me. It was pitch dark when my dad sent me to the station. I took the MRT to Kajang and my friend picked me up.
We needed to get there early to get a good spot and set up. There were other sellers but most of what we saw were people solely doing business. They had bought clothes from the second hand market and were peddling them for profit. Diyana and I however were just selling our used goods.
I only had on hand one suitcase that I rolled and a hand carry large Ikea bag. Diyana had a whole car load. So of course she had more goods to sell. We set up under a tree and it wasn't hot at first but it got hot later around 11.30am.
Above, my stuff occupies the left third of the blue mat. Upon taking this picture, some of my things had already been sold. Some of my clothes are in the blue Ikea bag on the leftmost of the picture and some hanging on the clothes rack below.
Above are Diyana's things - children's toys and lots of cloth things like pillowcases, bags, clothes, cushion covers and bedsheets. We shared the one clothes rack we have. One of the first things I sold was my polaroid camera together with its film and accessories. I sold it for RM60... not bad! My perfume dupe was the next to go... I sold it for RM10.
People came and went and some bargained for RM1.... which I didn't like. Diyana asked me to stay cool keep my prices high. But towards the end of the day I let things go for RM3 or RM1 as I didn't wanna bring them home. My most popular were my accessories and jewellery. I guess coz I under priced them. I was glad to get rid of my clutter though. I went home with an almost empty suitcase.
I was glad I had sold so much stuff... my earnings were around RM180! Mostly from the polaroid camera and my 2 straightening irons.
I can't wait for the next one in a few weeks time! It's so fun!Labels: activity
