It tasted like it has been barbecued as it is slightly charred, and is salty and slightly sweet. The sugar makes it caramelized and it is dry, sticky and tough.
I like to eat it hot and in between meals as a snack. So I heat it in the microwave before eating. It is a good snack, like jerky as it is high in protein.
My mom made it from minced pork spread into a thin sheet with some seasoning on a baking tray. Then she baked it for 5 minutes or more untill firm enough to lift up and cut. After that she placed the cut pieces in the oven for 10 minutes and it was done! So easy.
I really enjoyed this year's Yuk Kon as this recipe is pretty good. It tastes very authentic and is healthier as it is home made. There is no food colouring or any other preservative added unlike the shop bought ones. I will be munching on these from now on! Yum!
