Yesterday I made a British sausage dish called Toad in the Hole. It looks nice and it was very easy to make. My bro said it looks simple but nice. It tastes pretty good. The batter resembles Yorkshire Pudding which I might try.
I bought some premium sausages a few days ago specifically for this dish. The sausages cost RM5 for one sausage and I bought 2... high end indeed. I also bought some mid range chicken sausages to make up the rest of the dish. So the 2 sausages on the left below were premium pork sausages and the 3 on the right were mid range chicken sausages.
I made some gravy to go with it. Similar to the gravy for my mushroom Stroganoff... just an onion gravy. The gravy was separate and I slathered some gravy on top of my sausages and pudding on my plate.
Below you can see the sausage looks really yummy. It is pink not because it is underccoked... it was well done... maybe it was just the meat they used. They were really juicy and chewy.
Anyway, I had a good dinner yesterday and I finished the leftovers for lunch today. Really nice. I would like to try more sausage dishes like this, but I'll limit myself to one expensive dish per fortnight. It is still cheaper than eating out anyway.
