Yesterday I made burgers for dinner. I wanted to give my mom a break and I already bought all the ingredients for the burgers. I told my mom for days that I wanted to make the burgers so that she can focus on her cookies. Yesterday's cookie making was a success. We made kuih bangkit and oat choc chip cookies! Both were really yummy.
The cookie making is coming along nicely. The kitchen is like a conveyor belt with trays and all. My mom makes the cookie shape and I will put the flourishes like pineapple jam. For the kuih bangkit, I put the imprint on top of the cookie. I did not help with the choc chip cookies. Today there is work in progress for the sugee cookies. It is really fun to make those little cookies.

So I finally made my burgers. I made them with reference to recipes but turned out making it my own. I just had to get the basics right. I didn't know meat could hold its shape. Much less tofu. I put too much egg in the tofu and also blended it too much so it was too fine.
The buns were awesome. They were kind of like potato buns, really soft and fluffy. I toasted them in the pan that I made the burgers in. I spread butter on the halves and toasted them face down. They turned out perfect.
The sauce for the burgers were ketchup and chilli sauce. We had no mustard. I love mustard but we can't get them cheaply in Malaysia and we seldom make burgers or sausages or other fried meats. I once tried a grainy mustard... it was delectable... 😍
Anyway, below are the recipes for pork burgers and tofu burgers.

Feel free to add your own seasoning and sauces. You can add herbs, garlic, onions, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, mustard etc. I did not have many things on hand.
My parents and I enjoyed them. It was a fun dinner and I learnt a lot about flipping burgers as I have never worked a grill before. It was a great learning experience!
