Today I decided to make pan fried bananas. These are almost the last of our bananas from my grandparents. We enjoyed them for a week now and then we have to go back to buying bananas like normal people without a farm in their hometown. 😄
In the recipe I read, they are supposed to be crispy but that is unachievable with our over-ripe bananas. I have to settle for something more like caramelized bananas. Below is the recipe.
Caramelized Bananas
Ingredients
- A few small bananas or 2 large ones
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Ice cream for topping
Directions
- Slice the bananas
- Melt the butter in the pan then add the honey and cinnamon and mix them around.
- On medium heat, drop in the banana slices and fry until caramalized
- Flip over the bananas and fry on the other side.
- Serve with a scoop of ice cream if you want
It seems like a stew the way they turned out as they were over-ripe. They are brown because of the caramelized honey and butter. They were soft and gooey and went well with a scoop of ice cream!
It is desserts like these that make me glad vanilla ice cream was invented! It is a nice dessert and is quite sweet so probably skip it if you're diabetic.
I will make one last thing with the bananas and that is banana choc chip oatmeal! I hope I can have it for brunch soon! This will be the last of the bananas, but we will get more soon I hope.
