Garden Update - December 2017

Our garden is really flourishing now thanks to the dedication and care from my mom and dad. They painstakingly water the plants, plant them, prune them, get rid of pests and build structures to help them grow. So thanks to them we have a nice garden and get to eat many types of vegetables.

Here are some of the updates about our garden. Below is a small lemon tree my mom bought recently. It had 2 lemons on it when she bought it. I am not sure if more will grow but we have not yet harvested the 2 lemons. Hope they grow more.

Below are long beans. We have had them for quite a while now. I am just showing how much they are growing now. They grow really fast. Often we have a bunch of long beans we can cook for dinner.

Below we have lady's finger. These are 3 new lady's finger plants and they are slowly bearing fruit. The lady's finger actually grows upwards from a stalk.

Below are jalepenos. They grow from a small plant in a pot. They were from seeds given by my aunt. I have not tried these yet, but will be fun to try them. Maybe with cream cheese in a jalapeno popper. Or in a savory salad.

Below are capsicums. They also grow from a small plant. There are at least 2 of them now. I like capsicums and they are usually expensive. Getting one from the garden is so much better!

Below are beans called hyacinth beans. They come from a purple flower and they become beans. They are nice in a stir fry. Below is a cute picture. You can see the flowers and the beans.

So that wraps up my garden update. I hope you got to see many things and admire our bountiful garden produce! I am so glad that we grow our own food. Something like subsistence farming. It is more economical and much more rewarding. We get to see our food grow and then eat it.

Thanks for reading and I hope I inspired some people to cultivate gardens of their own!
