Easy purple bubur cha cha

Today my mom decided to make bubur cha cha from sweet potatoes we happened to have. We had purple and orange sweet potatoes from Melaka that were begging to be cooked.

So, my mom used both orange and purple sweet potatoes which gave the soup a lovely purple colour. Really pretty. Usually there is sago in bubur cha cha but we didn't have any. So they were "sago-less". But still really nice.

Basically bubur cha cha is a traditional Nyonya dish. It is a sweet desert soup made with sweet potatoes, "gula melaka" (a kind of brown sugar in a big chunk) and coconut milk. It is super easy to make too.

Below is the recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Cube the sweet potatoes
  2. Boil 1 litre of water and add in all the ingredients
  3. Simmer until potatoes are tender
  4. Serves 4 bowls

It is a pleasant dessert and I really enjoyed it. I like eating tubers, fruit and other natural food. Hopefully I get more opportunities to eat them!
