I need to be honest.... I am greedy! Yesterday my mom made apple pie. It looked so good but we let it set overnight... Today only could we eat it. Anyway, I was looking forward to eating it after I came home from an outing with my friend to Taman Midah. But at the Taman Midah MRT station there was a pie shop! They sold all types of pies!!
I just couldn't settle for one type of pie could I? I could not wait for the next time to buy that slice of pie could I? I just had to make it a pie party didn't I? Haha.. Did I mention I love pies, or could you tell from the way I talk about them?
Below is my mom's apple pie made yesterday. The crust was so crumbly and the apples were so tangy, not overly sweet. The top of it had a flower design, so intricately laid on by my mom. It was quite thick and the filling was really generous.
Then, today at the pie shop I saw many pies. The shop is called Luscious Pies. It sold many types of pies like cheese pies, blueberry pies, mango and peach cream pies, caramel cream pies, fruit flans, oreo pies etc.
Here is the assortment of pies. Looks so good. My friend ended buying the peach cream pie and I bought the caramel cream pie. We each took a slice and there was an offer of 2 for RM12.50. Not too expensive.
So I brought home the slice of caramel cream pie and ate it together with the apple pie my mom made. Eaten side by side, we could tell that my mom's pie had a better crust. Most probably because she used real butter.
Flavour wise, both were good. The caramel one had a burnt caramel taste with almond flakes for crunch. And my mom's one was apple with spicy cinnamon, very warm and fuzzy. The cream topping below is buttercream I think. Both pies were crumbly and the store bought one was sweeter than my mom's apple pie.
Overall it was a good day with my friend then at home with the pie. I enjoyed my outing with my friend. She is so nice to me to take me out. Really appreciated! Very kind friend indeed! 😃
