I like watching movies both old and new. The past 3 years I have watched more movies than before and came across some really nice ones. A good movie I would consider is one that I can't stop watching and time flies once I get lost in the movie. I would also be happy whenever the movie is showing on TV or am able to re-watch it. Also one that has an interesting plot that makes me think. Below are some such movies.
1. Silver Linings Playbook
This is one really awesome movie. One of my favourites. In it, a guy with bipolar disorder tries to get back on track and meets a girl with issues as well. They both help each other along the way and partner up for an interesting endeavour. This movie is so absorbing for me. I do not know why. It makes me so happy.
2. Lost In Translation
Another totally awesome movie. I watched this a while back and it gave me the feels. I may try watching it again soon. It is about a girl who feels she has lost her way in life, feels lonely in her marriage and meets a similarly depressed guy. They share a non romantic relationship but are both lost themselves. Not much happens in the movie. It is in the empty spaces that this movie resonates.
3. Pulp Fiction
A great all rounder movie. There is action, comedy, romance and drama. It is about a hitman going about his job with lots of violence. He is asked to take his boss's wife out for dinner and it is an endearing encounter. Also some problems arise in his job which leaves many people killed.
4. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I love this movie. It is about a couple who go through a whirlwind relationship that starts to get messy. Then they discover a service that allows people to forget things. They start to question many things about their relationship and whether they want to get back together again or stay broken up. It is very comforting to watch.
5. Requiem for a Dream
A movie about drug addiction. I think the drug of choice was heroin. It is really sad to see how addiction affects the lives of people they encounter and their lives begin on a downward spiral.
6. Exam
A movie about a tough job exam where 8 candidates are put in a room with a blank exam paper. Forced to solve the problems, they all cooperate yet compete. This whole movie is shot in just one room!
7. Phone Booth
About a sniper who holds a guy hostage in a phone booth. If he ends the call, people will be shot. There is some assistance from people around the area and it is a mystery where the phone call is coming from. Very exciting and interesting.
8. Stanford Prison Experiment
This is a true story where there is an experiment about prison politics. Volunteers are split into 2 groups... guards and prisoners. They are monitored and soon their behaviour gets horrific the way the guards were treating the prisoners. An intense movie.
9. Moonlight
A coming of age movie following the life of a young boy in 3 stages... as a young kid, a teen and as an adult. Very emotional and sometimes very intimate. It shows the life of a young kid who is different from people and still has to go through problems like poverty, and a drug dependent parent.
10. Shutter Island
About a mental institution for criminals. A detective is sent to investigate a crime and it turns out not what he expected. There is a lot of mystery in this movie and a few clues are dropped along the way that leads to a surprise ending.
I like these movies.... they are so awesome! I will continue to watch movies... there is nothing like a good movie where life gets portrayed in a story through someone else's viewpoint. Thanks for reading!
