I had a nice breakfast today. I ate a scone - the last one from the batch we made last week. I ate it with cream cheese icing and passionfruit jam which my mom made. It was awesome! It is a sweet scone so it went well with the jam and icing. I also had a banana. So healthy!
Here is the scone ratio template which you can change according to how much you want to make. It is so simple to remember. My mom also added sugar. You can add sugar if you want.
Ingredients
3 parts self raising flour
2 parts liquid (eg. milk)
1 part butter
Below is what my mom actually did for these specific scones.
Ingredients:
500g self raising flour
50g sugar
110g butter
300 ml milk
1 egg + 2 tbsp milk as glacé
Instructions:
- Mix self raising flour and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cut in cold butter. Rub until it has a breadcrumbs-like texture.
- Make a well in the center, add in milk and fold in the flour from the outside until it comes together. Do not over mix.
- Flour work surface and form dough with hands into a sheet with 2 cm thickness. Dust a 6cm dough cutter with flour and cut.
- Place dough well spaced on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
- Brush with egg glacé and bake for 20 - 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C or until golden brown.
- Serve warm with butter and jam.
I really like these awesome scones!
