Donut Sunday

I had a blast on Sunday when we went to Ikea and came back with a bunch of things and some Ikea hot dogs and curry puffs. I went with my mom and brother. I am in the process of redecorating my room and the past 2 weeks I have been buying things online for my room. It looks so much better now.

I ended up making donuts for everyone after going to Ikea!

I wanted to get a poster from Ikea so my brother and mom went with me. It is located on Jalan Cochrane. I went there to get my poster and get my poster I did. It wasn't exactly what I wanted though. I also got a plain white mug, to drink coffee of course.

My mom and bro however bought heaps of things. So I went to get 2 items and they ended up buying more. So funny. I brought in more customers. They bought plates, candles and other accessories.

Here is the poster I got. It is just a simple one. It has 2 posters in the pack, both floral designs. I think it is meant to be gold colour but wasn't shiny. I already hung it in my room, though I wish I had bought another black and white one I saw in Ikea.

So after shopping, we bought hot dogs and curry puffs at Ikea. They were good. We brought them home to eat.

Also, some time ago my mom bought some bread flour at a discounted price of RM1. It was going to expire soon so the supermarket sold it cheap.

Since the bread flour was going to expire, I decided to make donuts from the bread flour. The bread flour packet has the recipe that suggested making donuts from it. I will share the recipe below.

Ingredients
400g bread flour
6g instant yeast
180ml water
Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions
  1. Mix the bread flour with the yeast and combine.
  2. Add the water and beat it with in the mixer with a dough hook.
  3. Let the bread dough rise.
  4. Roll it out on a floured surface and cut out donut shapes.
  5. Let the donuts rest for about half an hour.
  6. Set up a fryer with oil and deep fry the donuts until golden brown. Around 40 seconds each side.
  7. Dust icing sugar on top just before eating.

Overall the donuts were an unexpected hit. They were so nice when fresh. They were crunchy and crisp on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside. I am not sure if it works with other flours other than bread flour but it is worth a try! It really transforms the bread flour, cooking it through totally. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it turned out!
