Ramadan Bazaar

Yesterday my parents went to visit my grandma in Sri Kembangan. She is doing ok. She lives with my aunt. My grandma has a sweet tooth and she gave me some mango jelly and haw flakes. They are such nice candies. So nice of her. I seldom see haw flakes nowadays.

My grandma gave us some food that she bought from a Ramadan Bazaar near her house. It was lemang, ketupat and serunding. Lemang is glutinous rice with a bit of coconut wrapped in a cylindrical shape with a leaf. Ketupat are Hari Raya fare and are steamed white rice wrapped in leaves woven into a criss cross.

Serunding is dried meat floss with some curry flavouring. So nice on its own or with rice.

My mom cooked chicken curry to eat with the lemang, ketupat and serunding. It was so awesome. Her usual great chicken curry with potatoes. Yumm! It is cooked with a bit of coconut so it has a very creamy flavour. And it has ground spices - the usual mixture like lemongrass and blue ginger. We ate the curry with the lemang and ketupat. Awesome! I can't wait for Raya and to eat more Hari Raya food!

Below are the cute haw flakes and jelly candies my grandma gave me. =)
