Last Friday I made chocolate mousse. I kept it in the fridge overnight to set and ate it the next day and on Sunday when my family has a big dinner together.
This is a very simple to make chocolate mousse. I got the recipe from Pinterest. The texture is awesome even though no gelatin or egg were added! The recipe can be found here.
Basicly below are the ingredients for the recipe. So simple.
8 ounces Milk Chocolate Chips
6 Tablespoons Water
2 Tablespoons Vanilla
2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
1/4 Cup Powdered Sugar
I was worried about the texture but it turned out just fine. A legit mousse texture. =)
Basicly you melt the chocolate with the water and vanilla over a stove and let it cool to room temperature. We used french milk chocolate. 60% cocoa. Still a bit bitter but nice.
Once the chocolate is completely cool, in a separate mixer, you add powdered sugar to the cream and whisk it to make whipped cream. Then you fold this whipped cream mixture into the chocolate mixture. Like you can see below. Do not overmix as the bubbles need to be trapped in the whipped mixture.
Once it is mixed, put it into cups and leave them to set overnight. Thats it!! Sooo simple! And I was pleasantly surprised with the awesome texture!
Wow, you can see the texture when scooped with a spoon like below. It is firm and airy.
Overall it was a good batch of chocolate mousse. My family enjoyed it so much. They said it was one of my best desserts yet. I hope there is more dessert making to come ahead! I couldn't have asked for a better response to my dessert. I am glad my family is willing to try my desserts. I will make more desserts soon. Maybe every Saturday!
