Big tai chow dinner

Today I did intermittent fasting so by dinnertime, I was hungry and ready to chow down on some delicious food. It was a public holiday today. We wanted to eat bak kut teh but the shop was closed so we ended up eating at our regular tai chow place.

It is called Kim Kee Seafood Restaurant and is in Taman Cheras. It used to be packed with people, but lately not so much. The family that runs it knows we are regulars here so we get good service.

We ordered four dishes. It was so much food. I went with my parents and brother so it was 4 people, 4 dishes. The drinks we had were just chinese tea.

First we have the steamed ginger tilapia... just standard fare at a chinese restaurant. It was cooked well and topped with fried ginger and garlic which was so fragrant.

Next was the clay pot tofu, another standard dish. The tofu was so soft and creamy and there were plump mushrooms as well. I liked the sweet pea also. There was some roast pork in there too.

Then there were the pork ribs in dark sauce recommended by the lady boss. It came with a side of fried bread which you can dip into the sauce. Very yummy. The pork was fatty and the sauce was so sweet. Unhealthy for sure! It was a rather small portion though, for 4 people. Maybe pork is expensive.

Last was the kangkong belachan. Belachan is a salty prawn paste and it is very pungent. The dish was spicy as well and was very oily. There was some sliced chillies in it. Very heavy food today.

Overall dinner today was quite normal as I am used to eating here. I am familiar with their food already. Sometimes we eat seafood here but not often. They also serve crab, prawn and other shellfish. Their fish is good and we always order fish when we eat here. It is a reliable restaurant to eat at so my family frequents here often.
