I've been in Hong Kong the past week. I went with my parents. I went on Sunday 26th and came back on Wednesday 29th. We stayed at Citadines Hotel on Ashley Road. It was a service apartment with cooking facilities. Small, but alright. Typical for Hong Kong rooms to be tiny. The location was good as it had many restaurants in the area.
On the first day, the flight was at 2pm and we landed around dinner time. We checked in and went out to eat. Boy was I hungry. Ate the first thing in sight which was at a dim sum shop nearby. It was called Canton's Dim Sum Expert. The siu mai was juicy and the bao was fluffy. The lo mai fun was wrapped in a huge lotus leaf. The chee cheong fun was wrapped around tender juicy shrimp and the soya sauce went well with it. We also ordered choy sum as a vegetable to go with our food. It went well with the oyster sauce on the side.
After the meal, we walked around to explore the area. Saw many Sasa shops and Chinese shops selling toiletries like aloe vera, Aveeno and other cult beauty products. The prices were cheaper for the aloe vera. In KL it would be RM30+ but in HK it was HKD20 which is around RM12.
The next day, we went to eat lunch at a shop which attracted us because they served duck. But it was very expensive and not worth it. A plate with duck cost a lot and it was not even a half or quarter of a duck. We ended up eating wan tan mee soup with my favourite wan tan dumplings. It was HKD40+ for mine. Still within budget.

After that we went shopping at Mark's and Spencer at I-square mall and I bought 2 items of clothing and some fair trade dark chocolate. I love dark chocolate now and the choc was HKD50 for 2. I should have checked out more of the M&S food and compared them with the prices in Malaysia. Then we went to find a supermarket to buy some food to eat at the hotel. We found one about half a km away which was Wellcome, just a normal supermarket. There we bought snacks, bread and drinks. I had milk tea in a bottle.
Then, on the way back, we spotted a shop called Best Mart 360. It was awesome! I love that shop. I bought 2 bars of Lindt chocolate for HKD30 and some aloe vera for HKD12.50 each. Such a steal! Although I now hope the aloe vera is real and not a knockoff. My mom bought 1.5 kg of Hershey's chocolate for HKD138 and Ritter Sport for HKD14.
To be continued soon... Day 3 and 4 of my Hong Kong trip.
